Devil or delight in the details?

The devil can be in the details when it comes to designing kitchens. Or, with a bit of luck, and a lot of work, the delight of a customer can be there too.

Ms. Z is a detail person, not devilishly so, but more exacting than most. She brought in a "list of lists," covering: every item in her existing kitchen, concerns about drawer heights, the need for taller base cabinets, a customized bread board to glide through a slot in the granite top for easy removal and cleaning. Plus a tip out trash can to be configured in a way that suited her family's needs.

Pat constructed a scale model of this unique trash cabinet, designed precise places for several hundred items, wrestled with form/function/aesthetics and came up with a highly customized kitchen that is a beauty to behold.
