Workshop #1: Farmhouse Aesthetics

Ms. A arrived at our shop five minutes before her appointment. While she waited, she pulled up a chair 10 feet away from a set of cabinets and examined a set of drawers. When Pat reached her, Ms. A announced, “The third drawer is tilting 1/16th of an inch down.” After trying at length, unsuccessfully, to persuade Ms. A to go with a custom cabinet-builder in the area, we took the job. Special needs included:

• Being true to a 1790 farmhouse look.
• Lowering work areas to accommodate a height-challenged Ms. A.
• Integrating a 12’ antique cupboard.
• Creating a custom mini desk in a peninsula.
• Dealing with a floor that was 4” off level over a 12’ expanse.
